heart rate watch
Buying a heart rate watch might not seem as a top priority for you, but if you work out it’s always a good idea to monitor your heart rate. It helps you know if you are working out too hard, or too little, and it enables you to stay on track. For example if you just want to kip fit you don’t need to work as hard as a professional athlete. Your heart beats will always tell you accurately if your workout is suitable to your goals.
As there are many different types of workouts there are obviously many different needs when it comes to monitoring your heart rate, so there are heart rate watches that have different functions. For the people that just want to stay in shape and keep healthy is enough to just know their heart rate and the amount of time they spent working out. Still, as they are training for a more complex goal people want more functions for their heart rate watches.
This is why nowadays heart rate watches come with very different and complex functions, from the basic stop watch function, heart rate monitoring, watch and alarm clock, to more complex functions as calculating recovery time, measuring time spent in desired heart rate, and an interval timer. Some even have functions that enable you to store the information and then download it to your computer for further study. Some more expensive ones have functions as GPS, calendar, and some are even waterproof for the people that do their work outs under water. Some even calculate the distance you ran for example.
The prices of heart rate watches vary depending on their functionality as well as the brand. A basic heart rate watch can start at $20, and cost up to $500 for one with more features. Before buying a heart rate watch you should really consider your goals and needs, as it can become quite a big investment if you want more functions on it. You should always keep in mind that if you just want to keep healthy you can very well stick to the basic function of monitoring your heart rate, but if you are a professional athlete, or training for a marathon, or why not, just a fitness enthusiast, investing a bit more money might bring you very useful functions.
Working out is usually good for your health but if you overwork, it can actually cause you some problems, as muscle fatigue and even muscle injury. Plus, as much fun as sports is you might want to do just what is needed to keep fit, or to reach a certain weight or muscle tone. With a heart rate watch this becomes much easier. You can always ask a fitness instructor, or research it online and find out what is the value that suits you best and stick to it.
Always remember, if you do decide that a heart rate monitor is what you need, set your goals, research the products and only then buy.
